All types of construction and engineering equipment are available to rent at Shareplant Rentals.

Shareplant Rentals operates in the UK construction and engineering industries.

The listed prices are the daily or hourly rental prices excluding VAT.

We carry out various levels of background checks on our equipment owners and hirers. We will contact you at the correct time to start these checks.

At certain points in the rental process you will need to verify your identity to Shareplant Rentals and the equipment Owner or Hirer to prevent fraud.

Owner FAQ’s

It is initially free to join Shareplant Rentals and list your equipment. After an introductory period we charge a small subscription fee based on the number of equipment listings. We do not charge commission on rental transactions.

You can list any type of construction and engineering plant, equipment or tools – including accessories and attachments.

All equipment must comply with applicable legislation and Health and Safety regulations.

It is the Owner’s responsibility to ensure compliance.

As the Owner, you set the rental prices and you can change the pricing whenever you like.

You, as the Owner, manage your Shareplant Rentals account and equipment listings. You can change the listings and equipment information as often as you like by logging into your account.

Yes, you can rent out your equipment on a self drive or fully operated basis … or both.

Create separate listings if you want to rent out both operated and self drive. This helps Hirers to conduct an accurate search.

Under the Shareplant Rentals Terms and Conditions, the Owner is responsible for the equipment before handover to the Hirer. After handover to the Hirer, the Hirer is responsible for any loss/damage during the rental. The Hirer remains responsible for the equipment until it is returned to the Owner at the return handover.

Under the Shareplant Rentals Terms and Conditions, the Owner is responsible for all equipment maintenance and certification.

The Owner is therefore responsible for any breakdowns during the rental and must repair the breakdown as quickly as possible or supply replacement equipment to the Hirer at no extra charge.

It takes less than 5 minutes to list an item of equipment.

 

Yes, you can list your equipment including a delivery and collection charge.

 

Shareplant Rentals allows Hirers to find and book equipment rentals. When a rental booking is confirmed, Shareplant Rentals issues an invoice to the Hirer to pay the Owner directly for the rental.

It is the responsibility of the Hirer to pay the invoice on time.

Shareplant Rentals does not get involved in the rentals payments.

No, but you need to add your bank account details to your personal profile.

These bank account details are then included on the invoices which are issued to the Hirers for your equipment rentals.

Generally, income earned by renting out your equipment is taxable.

Please consult your tax advisor to determine your tax liabilities for rental activities and retain all relevant documentation.

Be sure to prepare your equipment and have it ready before you meet or deliver it to the Hirer.

It should be serviced, cleaned and double checked to make sure all items are accounted for and in good working order.

Allow yourself enough time to assist the Hirer, if necessary, as they check your equipment and familiarise themselves with it.

As an Owner, you should check the Hirers ID (passport / driving licence), Employer ID, Insurance certificate and operator qualifications / cards.

The Hirer must have insurance to ‘hire in’ equipment and must be prepared to present the insurance certificate to the Owner at the handover.

Short Term ‘hire in’ insurance cover can be purchased from JCB Insurance and other similar brokers.

Liability for the equipment after handover to the Hirer rests with the Hirer. This includes for any damage and/or theft.

The Hirer must demonstrate to the Owner at handover that they have valid insurance cover and will cover any excess amounts themselves.

Also, the Hirer must comply with any insurance requirements regarding securing equipment from theft.

Hirer FAQ’s

No, as a Hirer it is free to join & rent equipment using Shareplant Rentals. We do not charge an administration fee or commission to Hirers. This allows our equipment owners to list their equipment at competitive rental rates.

Shareplant Rentals is a national service operating across the United Kingdom.

If there is a possibility that you will return the equipment late, you must inform the Owner as soon as possible via the Shareplant Rentals messaging system.

Under the Shareplant Rentals Terms and Conditions, failure to return the equipment by 5pm on the rental end date will result in another day rental being charged to the Hirer.

Yes, as long as you notify the Owner who the named person will be so that the Owner can check their ID.

Please note that you, as the Hirer, are still responsible for the equipment if you nominate someone else to pick up the equipment.

You can reject the equipment at the handover if it is not as described, damaged, unsafe or not working correctly.

In this situation the Owner must replace the rejected equipment with suitable equipment.

Please ensure the reasons for rejection are made in writing using the Shareplant Rentals messaging system and take photos of the defect.

Under the Shareplant Rentals Terms and Conditions, the Owner is responsible for the equipment before handover to the Hirer. After handover to the Hirer, the Hirer is responsible for any loss/damage during the rental. The Hirer remains responsible for the equipment until it is returned to the Owner at the return handover.

You must thoroughly inspect and record the condition of the equipment at handover and inform the Owner using the Shareplant Rentals messaging system.

If the damage makes the equipment unsafe or unusable, you can reject the equipment at handover.

The Hirer should return the equipment with the same amount of fuel as supplied at the handover.
